Austin FC made a trade agreement with Houston Dynamo FC official today. Defender Adam Lundkvist was bought by Austin in exchange for $300,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money (GAM) and $200,000 in 2024 GAM from Houston.
“We’re overjoyed that Adam has joined Austin FC. As a left back in MLS, he has a skill set that has been demonstrated, according to Austin FC Director of Player Personnel Sean Rubio. We extend a hearty welcome to him in the Club and the community.
Lundkvist joined Houston Dynamo FC in 2018, and during the course of five (5) seasons, he made 121 appearances and recorded 12 assists. Lundkvist played for IF Elfsborg in his home Sweden for four (4) seasons prior to joining Major League Soccer.
For Elfsborg, he made 145 games across all leagues. He scored three goals, provided 18 assists, and won the Swedish Cup in 2014.
In two international friendlies for Sweden’s senior men’s team in 2016, Lundkvist contributed an assist during a 3-0 triumph over Finland. Despite being a Swedish citizen, Lundkvist has a U.S. Green Card, hence he won’t be listed as an international on the Austin FC roster.
Deal: Austin FC and Houston Dynamo FC reach an agreement on a transaction. Defender Adam Lundkvist is acquired by Austin, and Houston receives $300,000 in 2023 GAM and $200,000 in 2024 GAM as compensation.
